| Extra Information | bit1-2 is distinguished by abnormal root development. bit1-2 root hairs develop in alternating regions of dense and sparse hairs, giving the root a poodle's tail appearance hence, the previous reference to this allele as poodle (pdl). Cohn et al. (2001) showed no detectable MtAPY1 mRNA in the pdl mutant. In contrast, Navarro-Gochicoa et al. (2003) found that there was no great difference in the levels of MtAPY1 mRNA in roots compared with wild type. No explanation was given for the discrepancy between the two studies. |
